Fragonard Rose
A Rococo portrait on a silk cushion among pink roses, powder blue and ivory.
A French Rococo portrait in the feather-light touch of Fragonard and Boucher. The animal rests on a silk cushion with a gold cord, before pink roses, a marble urn and the gilt scroll of a garden bench, under a sky of powder blue and rosy clouds. Everything bathes in pearly light — powder pink, duck-egg blue, ivory and antique gold — while the coat keeps its own colour and the face stays softly sharp. The lightest painted canvas in the collection: a cat or dog portrait for light interiors.
